Bruce Smith, CPA/CFF, CFE: Founder & Principal
Before launching Smith Forensics in 1992, Bruce served as a senior auditor at a large multinational public accounting firm. Over the course of his career he has worked on more than 2,500 engagements with business owners, insurers, policyholders, and attorneys, earning a well-established reputation as a trusted consultant and expert witness in loss measurement. Beyond his consultant and expert witness roles, Bruce has served as both an Umpire and Appraiser in business interruption disputes, published articles on business interruption, and presented at conferences and universities nationwide. He holds the Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certificate in Financial Forensics (CFF), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designations.
Zachary Smith, CPA, CFE, J.D.: Associate
Zach began his career as a licensed Florida attorney, serving as a judicial staff attorney for the Chief Judge of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit in Broward County's Complex Business Division, where he advised the Court on contractual disputes, accounting fraud, insurance coverage, and bad faith matters. That foundation sparked a deep interest in accounting and business disputes, leading Zach to earn a Master of Accounting and the CPA and CFE designations. Since joining Smith Forensics, he has applied his unique legal and financial background to document review and the preparation of analytical schedules for business interruption loss calculations.
